Kaitlyn Baker Project Update
Over the past several months the Heart of Appalachia Toruism Authority has worked with Pound native Kaitlyn Baker, an up and coming artist in Nashville, to create a song and music video highlighting the assets and heritage of our beautiful region. The song, now available on iTunes and Amazon will be used to market the region through digital internet marketing, TV and radio.
The video was filmed in areas that generally represent life in the Heart of Appalachia. We will create landing pages on our website outlining each business or asset in the region where a visitor could do the activities seen throughout the video. (Ex. Kayaking was filmed at at a certain location but we also will point viewers to Clinch River Adventures, Clinch River Outfitters, GRIP Outdoors, etc.)
HOA will be launching the pages, along with a HUGE social media boost on Friday. We have already provided press releases to area news outlets and will be participating in interviews with local tv and radio stations in the coming weeks. Share this video with your social media followers and keep watching our website and social media pages as we increase the promotion of this very special gift.
A special thanks goes out to Kaitlyn Baker, Lyndon Baker, Fred Anderson, Tazewell County Tourism, Wise County Tourism, Breaks Interstate Park, the Ralph Stanley Museum, Natural Tunnel State Park and all of the individuals who were willing to be a part of this project.
Unlimited Off-Road Expo
HOA partnered with Spearhead Trails to showcase the ATV trails, Motorcycle trails, & outdoor opportunities in our region at the Off-Road Expo in Louisville, KY, June 3-5.
This expo is the largest off road show in the central US, giving us an opportunity to connect with 30,000 visitors & share our exciting outdoor adventures.
Special thanks to Pennington Gap Town Manager Keith Harless and Town Council Member Jimmy Warner who attended the show & shared detailed information with visitors from Indiana, Kentucky, Ohio, Tennessee & several other states over the weekend.
Outdoor Recreation Promotions
HOA will attend the Ultimate Outdoor Show in Lexington, KY August 19-21, 2016. Representatives from Scott, Wise and Tazewell counties will be working this show along with Spearhead Trails and Breaks Interstate Park.
Kitty Barker will be attending a regional motorcoach association meeting in Concord, NC August 17-21 representing the Heart of Appalachia's group tour assets.
Volunteers willing to help with these shows or any future shows are always welcome to come along. When we have representatives from the counties it provides an opportunity to offer a unique view of each locality that makes the experience that much more intriguing for potential visitors.
Redesigning the Appalachian Backroads
The Heart of Appalachia will be redesigning our Appalachian Backroads Motorcycle Map. We will be making minor changes to some routes while completely redesigning others with our marketing committee.
Each route will have its own name and unique logo and we will create patches that our riders can then purchase. The new brochure will feature detailed information for each route to encourage visitors to stay the night and enjoy what each route has to offer.
